We grow wet rice during the year to feed the family. After the harvest, we have a party to celebrate the new harvest of rice and offer the newly harvested rice to our deceased grandparents and parents. This is a custom left by our ancestors. We offer the meal to our deceased grandparents and parents first to show respect to them because without them we would not be here. Almost everyone who harvests the new crop of rice holds a party. During the meal, people offer the new rice to each other and wish for even higher yields in the following crop.
